How this girl lost 30 lbs.

Here is the short answer: she wanted it badly enough so she changed her attitude and hence her life. The bad habits followed and in came the good habits. 
On the verge of age 55, she felt she had to do something different. She wasn’t feeling vibrant,she had low energy and she had weight to lose. There was no denying that. There was no miracle diet or workout routine here, but she did tell me that ‘that one time about 4 years ago when I ran into you running…’. I got a private message on Facebook out of the blue and the workouts started. Funny, we go back 25 years, too! I was so happy to have her back in my life. She’s a gem. 

I will never take credit for someone’s success. Sure I certainly can shorten the time it takes to get fit and strong, I can help you with your injuries and guide you in eating healthier. But I give all of the credit to my clients for coming to me in the first place. That’s key. Here’s to another true success story. I love what I do!

Meet Michelle, in her 50’s, one of my 4 new clients, showing strength and grace. 

So one day in November, I get a call from a girl who found me on Yelp. I walk into the studio the next day to meet her and start training and she says, ‘MK?’ Wow. She used to work at the front desk of our little Playa Del Rey ‘Fitness Studio’ my girlfriend and I owned way back when we were 21. Amazing! I was pleasantly surprised to say the least. It’s one of the best things about what I do.. reconnecting with friends and keeping them going, watching them become healthier, fitter, and happier than ever. Another true success story!

Rock climbing this summer at Lake Cascade near Tahoe

Hi!

We just finished hiking, or rather nearly rock climbing, down that small crack in the rocks in the far right of the photo. We then traversed on the upper ledge to an amazing pool that has it’s own waterfall and otter family, plus trout. It’s a perfect resting place with fresh, chilly water to take a dip in after a 6 hour hike at.. 7,000 feet!

Every summer, I plan a trip with my closest girlfriend to her family home on Lake Cascade near Tahoe. It’s the one on my main photo with the snow capped peak in the background. I have been coming here for over 25 years. There are a total of 6 homes. I certainly am no dummy! To keep fit is easy. We hike, run trails, stand up paddle, swim to Big Rock and back (really tough in altitude and I am a good swimmer), surf ski, and take turns making huge, healthy meals… SO much fun in such a beautiful, peaceful place that you can hardly capture it in a photo. Enjoy!

Laura, age 59, my high school friend/client, working abs & so much more!

Laura is using the suspension training system Hanger 44 targeting abdominals and back. She is also working. G chest, shoulders, arms in this side swing. Her goal? Do a controlled swing aide to side from her shoulders for 30 seconds. Not very easy at all but it feels great. 

The Hanger is so versatile that often it can also provide the perfect assist for my clients with knee or hip pain due to weak, deconditioned muscles.  I can easily modify and gradually increase their ROM safely so that they can get their lives back and activities back to normal functioning.

She’s strong now and has been with me for over 2 years. Being an ex-collegiate athlete in basketball, she prides herself on staying fit but lacks the discipline to do it now that she’s in the corporate world… a typical problem facing many millenials. Voila! That’s where I come in. Having to keep an appointment with me keeps her consistent, fit, healthy and down 2 pant sizes.
