A little Tamu, a little beach, a little red tailed hawk.. all before and after a little workout. To me it’s all about lifestyle, don’t you think? One healthy thing leads to another.. and another, every day. Believe in yourself. (I still work on that every single day). It simply snowballs in a positive direction. And I believe being truly healthy encompasses appreciating all of nature, and animals, in addition to lovely food as well as and of course physical activity. The physical activity doesn’t always have to be about intensity, weight, looks (I still get pretty carried away with that part.. I’m working on not doing that as much), how much weight you lift (never been an emphasis for me), trends, diets (NOT), fancy equipment, muscles, what you wear (I really should throw out some of my stuff😳), or being in a fancy room or building or around beautiful people doing it. I think sometimes people miss the point. Get outside sometimes! Be casual about how you look (‘cause really no one cares)! Lose the makeup! Throw you hair in a ponytail! Run out the door without thinking if you’ve got 20 minutes! Lose the headphones and hear the wind or the birds or the ocean.. or, heaven forbid, your thoughts as they turn POSITIVE! Grab an apple for the road for afterwards! Just splash off your face with water! Shower later! 👉The big reward is: feeling good instantly. ✅done. Mark it off on your calendar. Leaner. Stronger. Clearer. Problems feel solved. One medicine ball is sometimes all you need for a great workout!

All it sometimes takes for a great workout is one, simple, medicine ball… and great 🎶 of course! All of the talk lately is about food hence I’ve been posting a lot of ideas for little ‘meals’. (I keep it in quotes because ‘meal’ to me implies a lot of food which makes me full just thinking about it). So, it’s time once again to talk a bit about weight workouts, one of the KEYS to getting and keeping fit and being able to do all of the fun things you want to do. I’m talking about medicine balls, dumbbells, bars, pulleys, body weight, etc., light, heavier, … 👉My thing is this: it is SUPER important to know what you’re working and why, the reason for the sequence, reps, weights, choices of the exercises, and have good form doing it. The only way that you can know this is to know anatomy, physiology and biomechanics, or you risk: a. getting hurt (it’s not often instant and it can take time for repetitive movements to injure you.. badly) b. wasting your time and getting zero results, and running back to the ‘I’ll just watch my food’ attempt. Have you heard people say that? So, what do you do if you’re not sure about proper form? And please, there’s so much crazy s**t out there on social media. I must CAUTION you! It make look good, and the girl or guy doing it may look fantastic, but that doesn’t make it safe for YOU. If you decide to hire a personal trainer, ask for their credentials/bio. A 4 year degree in a related field would be ideal and at least 8-10 years of experience especially with so many quick, easy certs out there. Heck, what I thought I knew when I was a 22 year old ‘trainer’ and what I know now?! Night and day. Remember, I said this in a prior post, I thought I was SO cool that I could watch TV while sitting in the splits, and also do them in front of a class when no one else could… in my 20’s. A lot of good that did!! (2 hip surgeries later). Looks, posts.. draw us in.. to a fitness program, but do a little research behind the program. This is what motivated me to post a long story like this. I’m passionate about people feeling great, being happy, and getting what they want out of a fitness program. Are we in this together? 🙏
